Noah Kagan’s 6 Steps to a Customer Lovegasm

A few weeks back, Noah Kagan stopped by to tell us his secret to how he grew a 500k person mailing list and built a multi-million dollar business in less than 18 months.

His advice? Give your customers a lovegasm.

It turns out that all of the businesses you and I love (and I mean LOVE – think about the companies and products that you actually tell your friends about) all do the same 6 things.

Want to know what they are? Noah Kagan tells you in this video:

My favorite part is where Noah talks about the simple little things Appsumo does to connect with their customers. I’m surprised more companies don’t just copy them!

If you’re having trouble building buzz and word of mouth for your product, you owe it to yourself to watch this video.

So How Do We Use the Six Steps?

Think about the 6 steps Noah mentions and how they relate to the businesses and products you love the most.

Lets get a discussion going so that we can learn from some other real-world examples.

What are your favorite companies, and what do they do that makes you talk about them?

Tell us in the comments.

    Hi Mattan,

I personally always hate to fill-in long forms for registrations and some times get annoyed when any website is not letting me in with out the registration. I would always prefer to read some descriptions about the website to give reason to my visit and then register.

Actually it depends website to website, but overall great article to read.

I agree that there can be a different order of approaching a customer for eCommerce vs other SaaS companies, but the principals of a simple layout, keeping required fields to a minimum, and keeping customers on the original homepage where possible are all good best practices which are available in the curated default registration components offered by ProductStructu.re and a few others companies. No matter how small your startup is it always pays to start where the largest players are after years of research and A/B testing. blog.productstructu.re has a series of posts regarding best practices for login and ideal optimization methods to increase conversions.

When you get the email from the squeeze page, is it an opt-in whereby they must confirm? Thank you, and thanks for the great help really appreciate it for this struggling start-up (not struggling for long!)

You used pinterest as an example, but they seem to still be in the middle of A/B testing whether they are going to give content or not. You got the version of their homepage with just the sign up CTA. Try another logged out browser, I just pulled up their site and got this version http://imgur.com/Hv0yUt0
